The New Parent Account Update: Everything You Need to Know

The New Parent Account Update: Everything You Need to Know
← Back to Blog

We previously shared that MemOrLearn is moving to a new Parent and Child account structure, along with a new pricing model. Now that the details are finalised, here's exactly what's changing, what happens to your existing account, and what — if anything — you'll need to do.

Release date: the update is now expected to go live by 8th October 2026.

The Short Version

If you're a Teacher, your account will automatically become a Parent account, your existing Students will automatically become Child accounts linked to it, and your pricing will drop to our new, lower rates from your next renewal. No data is lost, and your children's accounts won't notice any difference at all. The one thing we'll need from you is a quick check of your payment details and choosing a single plan to apply across all your children.

Here's the full breakdown.

What Happens to Existing Teacher Accounts

Every existing Teacher account will be automatically converted into a Parent account on release day — there's nothing you need to set up yourself. Your account, your children, and everything attached to them will simply carry across under the new structure.

Your pricing will move to the new, lower Parent and Child rates starting from your next renewal date after the update goes live, so you won't be charged mid-cycle at the old rate and then switched part-way through.

What Happens to Existing Student Accounts

Every Student account will be automatically converted into a Child account, correctly linked to the right Parent account, with the appropriate plan applied — you won't need to manually relink anything.

Just as importantly: no progress data is lost. Flashcards, completed modules, fluency stats, and everything else your child has built up will carry across exactly as it was. From your child's side, their account will look and work exactly the same as it does today.

What's Happening to Pricing

The new pricing structure is, for almost everyone, genuinely lower than current pricing — so this transition means a saving for most families, not an increase. As above, the new pricing applies automatically from your next renewal after the update goes live, with no separate notice needed since the change works in your favour.

As a reminder, the new structure looks like this:

Parent Plans

Plan    Price
Free    £0
14-Day Trial    £0
Monthly    £5
Yearly    £45

Child Plans (Base Price, Per Child - SEE BELOW)

Plan    Price
Free    £0
14-Day Trial    £0
Monthly    £6
Yearly    £54

Multi-Child Discount

Number of Children    Discount    Monthly (per child)    Yearly (per child)
1 child    0% off    £6.00    £54.00
2 children    25% off    £4.50    £40.50
3 or more children    40% off    £3.60    £32.40

How the Rollout Works

This isn't a gradual, phased rollout — everything switches over at once on release day. To make the switch cleanly, MemOrLearn will be briefly unavailable for a couple of hours while the conversion takes place. We'll share the exact timing closer to the date so you can plan around it if needed, though we expect the disruption to be minimal.

What You'll Need to Do

For Parents, there are two small things to take care of once the update is live:

1. Confirm your payment details. You'll need to check and confirm these as part of moving to the new billing structure.

2. Choose a single plan to apply across all your children. Rather than managing separate plans per child, you'll select one plan (Free, Monthly, or Yearly) that applies to every Child account under your Parent account.

That's genuinely all that's needed from you — everything else, including the Teacher-to-Parent and Student-to-Child conversion, happens automatically in the background.

For children, there's nothing to do at all. Their accounts, progress, and day-to-day experience on MemOrLearn remain exactly the same before and after the update.

Why We're Confident About This Change

We know any account or pricing change can feel unsettling, especially when it happens automatically rather than by choice. We've built this transition specifically to avoid data loss, avoid mid-cycle billing surprises, and — for the vast majority of families — actually reduce what you're paying. The couple of hours of downtime on release day is the only real disruption involved, and your children's learning won't be interrupted beyond that short window.

We'll confirm everything once the update has completed. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch.
